Dak Prescott becomes the first quarterback to be drafted into the NFL since Dave Marler in 1979.
The Dallas Cowboys were looking for a quality backup for Tony Romo. After a 12-4 season in 2014, they nose-dived in 2015 because they simply could not win without Romo.
Romo is also 36 years old, so he’s in the twilight of his NFL career, making this a great fit for Prescott.
Dak came to Mississippi State for the spring 2011 semester, but didn’t see the field until 2012 as a backup. After Tyler Russell was injured during the first game of the 2013 season, he was able to take over and he never really let go outside of an injury late in the year.
