Shelby Christy is headed back to the Boot.
Mississippi State confirmed that the rising sophomore tight end has transferred. Christy tweeted that he is headed to Louisiana-Lafayette.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder from Geismar, La., signed as a three-star wide receiver and spent two years in Starkville but never appeared in a game. Christy redshirted in 2013 and missed all of last season after tearing his right ACL during fall camp.
Christy spent most of the spring as the third team tight end behind Gus Walley and Darrion Hutcherson. He caught two passes for 31 yards during the Bulldogs’ three spring scrimmages.
