Chiefs choose Jones in second round

Chris Jones was the first Bulldog off the board in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Mississippi State defensive tackle was selected as the 37th overall pick in the second round by the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday.

Jones, a 6-foot-6, 310-pounder from Houston, entered the draft a year early after starting all 13 games for the Bulldogs as a junior making 44 tackles, 7.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks and four pass breakups.

During his three-year stint in Starkville, Jones appeared in 39 games including 16 starts. He concluded his college career with 102 tackles, 18 for loss, 8.
