It’s never easy being the guy that follows the guy, but Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald did a nice job last season replacing Dak Prescott, the best player in Bulldogs history.
Fitzgerald showed why Bulldogs coaches loved his upside while leading the SEC in total offense (3,798 yards), and that gives Mississippi State fans hope heading into 2017.
Fitzgerald has received tons of love this offseason, and some, like ESPN’s Tom Luginbill, think Fitzgerald could be an NFL first-round pick next year.
But even with all of the hype, pub and recognition, Fitzgerald has tons of work to do if he is going to supplant Prescott as the best quarterback — and most beloved player — in Mississippi State history.
