Bulldogs on brink of elimination at CWS after loss to Vanderbilt

OMAHA, Neb. – Good fortune seemed to be smiling down on Mississippi State early on during MSU’s Wednesday game against Vanderbilt at the College World Series. Time and time again, Bulldogs starting pitcher Peyton Plumlee found trouble, but he and his club wiggled off the hook and avoided or limited the damage. In the fifth inning though, State’s luck ran out. In large part because of that, and also because of a strong pitching performance from Kumar Rocker of the Commodores, the Bulldogs’ season is now on the brink.

MSU surrendered a five-run fifth inning to Vanderbilt and the Bulldogs couldn’t overcome it as they ultimately fell 6-3 to the Commodores in Omaha.
