Brown named SEC Defensive Player of the Week

Mississippi State’s Richie Brown was selected as the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his stellar play against Auburn.

The junior linebacker recorded 13 tackles, three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks against the Tigers. His 12 solo stops over the weekend tied for the most in the SEC this season.

“I thought the type of game he played, he was very, very deserving,” said MSU coach Dan Mullen. “The number of tackles that he had, he was all over the field and was impactful on the game.”

The 6-foot-2, 245-pounder from Long Beach leads the team with 39 tackles this fall which ranks fourth in the conference.
