Mississippi State will now be looking for an opponent for the 2016 season after Tulane backed out Monday.
MSU’s Bob Carskadon reported that Tulane canceled its agreement to play at Davis Wade Stadium in 2016. The two teams were supposed to meet in Starkville on Sept. 24. The meeting was the final in a seven-game series.
A team spokesperson says MSU is working to fill the vacancy, but nothing has been made concrete. Tulane will pay MSU $350,000 for backing out of the game. Tulane did not give a reason for backing out and just sent a letter to MSU relaying the news.
