Taveze Calhoun is hoping to hear his name called later this week in the NFL Draft.
But the former Mississippi State cornerback received recognition of a different kind after being selected to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday.
To qualify for the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, a football player must maintain a cumulative 3.2 grade point average during their collegiate career.
Calhoun graduated with a 3.5 GPA and was a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. The Morton native was the SEC’s only NFF National Scholar Athlete last year and was a finalist for the Campbell Trophy, also known as the ‘Academic Heisman’.
