Ole Miss defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff has two weeks to prepare for Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts, but it took McGriff about two minutes to get a general idea of his plan.
He knows he has to stop – or limit – Hurts in the run game.
The Crimson Tide sophomore is 13th among SEC quarterbacks in passing yards a game but tied for fifth among all players in rushing yards with 90 per game. Had he not sat out nearly the entire second half in Alabama’s 59-0 win at Vanderbilt on Saturday, he likely would still be averaging over 100.
