Ole Miss has cleared one hurdle. A tougher one remains.
The public embarrassment that Hugh Freeze’s resignation caused was enough to cause ol’ Colonel Rebel to bow his head. Now, Ole Miss must find a coach to replace the disgraced Freeze.
That won’t be easy.
Freeze was thought by some to be the savior of a perennially average program. Hiring a great coach with NCAA sanctions looming could prove difficult. It certainly won’t help Ole Miss that it was steadfastly behind Freeze despite serious NCAA issues.
If I were Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork, I already would have placed a call to former LSU coach Les Miles.
