The Ole Miss coaching staff has developed a reputation as a band of elite recruiters. They’ve reeled in a litany of highly-regarded recruits, including the No. 1 wide receiver, quarterback, offensive tackle, offensive guard, and defensive end in their respective classes. There seems to be only one position they’ve missed on since taking over: linebacker. Whether it’s Clifton Garrett, Duke Riley or Nyles Morgan, the Rebels seem to wind up in second place rather than taking home the gold when it comes to recruiting at the position. While they haven’t hit a home run yet with a high school recruit, they’ve certainly knocked around some doubles and triples with junior college transfers, notably Christian Russell.
