South Alabama shocked Mississippi State last year. Could it do the same to Ole Miss?

MOBILE, Ala. — Ole Miss is a 24-point favorite over South Alabama, but that doesn’t faze Jaguars players. Heck, they were 28-point underdogs when they won at Mississippi State to open last season.

“I remember we were down at halftime like 17-0 and everybody in the locker room — you could just see the look in our eyes, like, ‘We got this, we can play with these guys.’ And we got out the second half on the field and we showed them what we could do,” South Alabama quarterback Dallas Davis said.

Last season, the Jaguars battled back from a 17-0 halftime deficit and didn’t take their first lead until the final minute of the game, when Davis found tight end Gerald Everett for the go-ahead touchdown.
