OXFORD, Miss. – The pain on Chad Kelly’s face was evident, but it didn’t come from his knee. It also didn’t come from a sprained wrist that began to bother him last week.
It came from the unfortunate fate that the day he’d focused on since February – when he learned he would not be invited to the NFL Scouting Combine – had been taken from him.
Pro Day at Ole Miss was Kelly’s best chance to perform before a large number of NFL scouts. Not enough time had passed from ACL surgery following his early November injury to do more than observe practice at the Senior Bowl.
