Not only did Shea Patterson play well in his debut for Ole Miss, but, for him, it also was fitting too.
After leading the Rebels to a 29-28 upset win of Texas A&M on the road in the first action of his collegiate career Saturday, Patterson highlighted a notable former Aggies star who once made a name for himself on the same field.
“It’s crazy, my first start – Johnny Manziel was my favorite player growing up,” Patterson said. “It’s ironic that I get my first start at Kyle Field. It’s awesome.”
Patterson, a true freshman and former five-star prospect, threw for 338 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.
