COLUMBIA, Mo. -- LSU junior Michaela Schlattman's second-inning grand slam launched the Tigers past defending SEC tournament champion Ole Miss 4-1.
The No. 5 seeded Tigers (41-13) exacted some payback on the Rebels (30-23), who beat them in the 2017 championship game 5-1.
The Tigers loaded the bases in the bottom of the second with singles by Amanda Doyle and Amber Serrett and an Ole Miss fielding errror. Schlattman took the third pitch by Kaitlin Lee and sent it over the center-field wall for a grand slam, giving LSU a 4-0 lead. Schlattman has hit four home runs and 11 RBI in the last five games.
