Report: Epps dismissed

The Ole Miss Spirit is reporting that redshirt freshman tight end Sammie Epps has been dismissed from the football team.

Epps was running second team at slot receiver last year when he was arrested for driving without a license and possession of marijuana.

He was signed as a tight end but was moved to receiver early in drills. He had since been moved back to tight end.

His 6-foot-6 frame and athleticism gave him a good chance to play, but he fell behind after the arrest and was redshirted last year.

Epps obviously had no game experience, but his absence cuts into already thin depth behind Evan Engram, who was a unanimous All-SEC first team choice last year and was named second team All-America by Sports Illustrated.
