SALINAS, Calif. -- Making an impromptu trip south from Palo Alto due to air quality issues, Ole Miss battled the top-ranked Stanford Cardinal valiantly but in the end had its season come to an end by a 4-1 score in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
The Rebel defense started well to hold the Cardinal offense in check through the early minutes but Stanford was able to grab a lead in the 13th-minute. Morgan McAslan made the first of a number of exquisite saves on the night but Catarina Macario gathered the rebound and slotted it home to push Stanford ahead.
