Ole Miss tight end Octavious Cooley suspended indefinitely

Ole Miss tight end Octavious Cooley has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, Rebels interim coach Matt Luke announced Wednesday.

Luke, though, said he expected to have Cooley back at “some point.” He did not elaborate on the team rules broken by Cooley.

Cooley, a sophomore, played in four games last season as a true freshman. He did not record any statistics.

Cooley could be a replacement as Ole Miss’ starting tight end this season after former All-American Evan Engram’s departure to the NFL this offseason. Engram had 65 catches for 926 yards and eight touchdowns last season.
