Ole Miss fans finally will be able to get a look at the new defense implemented by coordinator Wesley McGriff — as well as the tweaked offense for new coordinator Phil Longo — when the Rebels hold their annual Grove Bowl spring game Saturday.
The Rebels enter the 2017 season with a number of off-field questions surrounding the NCAA investigation of the program. On the field, there is talent but also questions, mostly about McGriff’s defense.
The spring game format matches the offense vs. the defense. The defense opens the game with a 27-0 lead and can earn points in a variety of ways, including turnovers returned for touchdowns or into field-goal range.
