Ole Miss renovations on schedule, new field to go in soon

OXFORD, Miss. – The renovations at Ole Miss’ Vaught-Hemingway Stadium are progressing as expected, and the new playing surface will be in place soon.

“We will be laying the field sod the first week of June,” said Stephen Ponder, Ole Miss’ senior executive associate AD for external relations. The Rebels have played on an artificial surface since the 2003 season.

Ponder also said the renovation work is on schedule and will be done by the time the Rebels open their 2016 home schedule against Wofford on September 10. Once completed, the new stadium capacity will be 64,038; it had been 60,580.
