Ole Miss Men’s Golf, ranked No. 5 in the country heading into the season, opened the year with a statement performance at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate this weekend. The Rebels battled all three days and walked away in second place.
Participants in this weekend included Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, Charlotte, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Iowa, Chattanooga, Charleston, Loyola Marymount, Virginia Tech, Augusta, Toledo, NC State and North Florida.
Day one
The Rebels opened the tournament steady and finished inside the Top Five after the first round. Freshman Daniel Tolf wasted no time in making an impression; he shot a 67 (-3) thanks to five birdies, good enough for eighth place on the day.
