On Monday night, Ole Miss landed a commitment from wide receiver Deion Smith, currently ranked as the #1 junior college prospect regardless of position. At Jackson (MS) Academy, Smith was ranked as a top 100 prospect in the 2021 class, choosing LSU over Ole Miss. Smith showed promise in a reserve role as a freshman at LSU, before leaving for Holmes Community College. For the last two years, Smith has absolutely torn apart the junior college ranks, averaging 133 receiving yards per game in 2023.
Deion Smith’s commitment comes on the same day Dayton Wade announced he would leave Ole Miss for the NFL after the Peach Bowl.
