Saturday night was personal for Hugh Freeze.
Last week, he said his players would be ready for the game with Memphis. The Tigers’ 37-24 last season remained fresh on his mind, and credit Freeze for having his team ready.
In last season’s loss, Ole Miss led 14-0 and the sideline appeared jovial. That obviously turned quickly. Saturday night, Ole Miss jumped out to a 14-0 lead and didn’t let up. While Memphis did eventually cut it to 27-21, the Rebels responded quickly to make it 34-21 and cruised from there.
Freeze grew up near Memphis, in Independence, Miss.
