Ole Miss has tickets remaining for its opener vs. Florida State

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – When I first learned the University of Tennessee had settled its federal Title IX lawsuit alleging the school maintained a “hostile sexual environment” for $2.48 million, I thought UT was foolish.

Foolish not to have settled the case before a lawsuit was filed February 9.

Foolish not to have avoided the negative publicity.

Foolish to have spent almost $540,000 on attorney fees.

Perhaps I was foolish to have jumped to those conclusions. It’s easy to second-guess why a resolution wasn’t reached before the lawsuit was filed. But if you don’t know the parameters of the negotiations, it’s not so easy to be critical.
