In life and in college football there are haves and have-nots. The sports’ haves – USC, Texas, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State – will always enjoy a level of sustained success the have-nots – Purdue, Vanderbilt, Washington State, Iowa State, Wake Forest – will never reach.
Everyone who isn’t an Ole Miss fan recognizes that the Rebels more closely align with the latter, “have not,” category, while Ole Miss partisans continue looking at their neighbors to the east (Alabama) believing they can catch them and take up residence in the “have” category.
I agree with FOX Sports’ college football analyst Joel Klatt who had this to say recently on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd:”
“Ultimate success is really not afforded every single program.
