In an announcement made Friday morning after a devastating loss at home to Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, Ole Miss revealed that it has parted ways with defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff, per Rebel Grove’s Chase Parham.
This comes as no surprise after the Rebels narrowly escaped an upset bid in week two at the hands of Southern Illinois, surrendering 629(!) total yards, including 241 on the ground. The former DC could not conjure up the proper play calls, schemes, and message for the defense to improve and return to its dominant form in 2014 and 2015.
