Ole Miss closer Wyatt Short was named to the preseason watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award, given annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball. The organization, who also named Short second team NCBWA Preseason All-America, made the announcement Monday afternoon, according to Ole Miss Athletics.
Short is one of 10 players on the watch list that also collected NCBWA Preseason All-America honors. The junior is only one of 15 closers on the list to eclipse double digits in saves last season.
