Ole Miss’ season-opener followed the course of the Rebels’ offseason: It was a roller-coaster ride and one that ultimately was no fun.
The Rebels could do no wrong on both sides of the ball for most of the first half; they could do little right on either side of the ball in the second half. The result was a 45-34 loss to Florida State in Orlando in a game in which Ole Miss led 28-6 late in the second quarter.
It indeed followed the offseason path. Ole Miss rolled to a win in the January 1 Sugar Bowl over Oklahoma State, then followed that with perhaps the best recruiting class in school history.
