An Ole Miss defensive starter was taken to the hospital after suffering an injury scare during the Rebels’ scrimmage Saturday.
An Ole Miss spokesperson said in a statement that defensive tackle Benito Jones was taken to a local hospital for precautionary spinal X-rays following a “hard hit,” but that he did not lose feeling or movement in his extremities.
Jones’ mother, Juanita, later told The Clarion-Ledger that Jones was doing fine and the doctor said he was OK.
Ole Miss’ scrimmage was closed to the media and public.
Jones played in all 12 of the Rebels’ games last season, including four starts, as a true freshman.
