Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball (18-8, 8-5) were looking for their fifth straight win in Columbia Tuesday night. The Rebels entered the midweek matchup coming off a 75-65 win over Missouri in Oxford. South Carolina (14-12, 9-4) entered the matchup coming off 84-77 home win over Texas A&M.
Despite starting strong and building a 13-2 lead the Rebels allowed the Gamecocks to get back in the game and South Carolina took a 40-32 lead into the locker room at the break. The second half was more of the same and the Gamecocks outscored the Rebels 39-32 to get the 79-64 SEC home win.
