Lame duck head coach Andy Kennedy has suddenly resigned with immediate effect, Ole Miss announced on Sunday, not a week removed from AK’s decision to step down at season’s end. Former Rebel assistant Tony Madlock will coach out the rest of the season in an interim capacity in Kennedy’s stead.
AK made the announcement via a letter to the Ole Miss faithful, explaining in classically Kennedy candor that he feels he’s failed Ole Miss’ players to this point in the season’s abortive campaign, and his decision to leave now constitutes the best scenario for the current Basketsharks to live up to the standard of Ole Miss hoops.
