Is Shea Patterson the SEC West’s new Johnny Manziel? When Nick Saban is the person comparing the two, it’s a good idea to listen.
The Alabama coach compared Ole Miss starting quarterback Patterson to former Heisman Trophy winner Manziel during his weekly press conference Wednesday ahead of the Crimson Tide’s matchup with the Rebels on Saturday.
Saban said that Patterson’s ability to keep plays alive with scrambling compares with that of Manziel, who won the Heisman Trophy during a sensational 2012 season at Texas A&M.
“When he extends plays, it’s a Johnny Manziel type of game,” Saban said.
