The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships are in full swing, and the No. 18 Ole Miss Rebels are off to a good start in the competition.
The Rebels had five men competing yesterday, with sophomore Craig Engels and junior Robert Domanic running in the 1500-meter semifinals, Sophomore MJ Erb running in the 3000-meter semifinals and senior Holland Sherrer running in the 800 meters semifinals. Sophomore Dempsey McGuigan also competed in the hammer throw.
McGuigan finished eighth in the hammer throw, giving him first team All-America honors and giving the first team point to Ole Miss. He became the first member of the Ole Miss men’s team score NCAA points in the hammer throw ever.
