The NCAA’s investigative case against Mississippi ended in early December, with the NCAA Committee on Infractions administering an additional one-season bowl ban, among other sanctions. In its findings, the committee charged Ole Miss with a lack of institutional control, one of many charges Ole Miss is appealing.
Ole Miss self-imposed a bowl ban for the 2016 season, and it voluntarily forfeited more than $7 million of SEC postseason revenue. The school also self-imposed some recruiting and scholarship restrictions.
As for the appeal, Ole Miss recently noted that the NCAA has elected to use a 30-day extension to respond to the appeal.
