Ole Miss officially announced the hiring of Wesley McGriff as its defensive coordinator to take the place of Dave Wommack who retired at the end of the 2016 season.
McGriff served as the secondary coach for Auburn last season, a defense that was at the top the SEC in just about every statistical category.
Coach Hugh Freeze told the media at the teleconference Friday morning that he believes these two new hires have the ability to help us “move from good to great”.
Freeze noted that he was extremely comfortable with McGriff, since he was previously on Freeze’s staff as a defensive backs coach at Ole Miss in 2012.
