Louisville sophomore pitcher Brendan McKay stole the show on Saturday, as the left hander tossed a three-hit shutout to hand Ole Miss its first defeat of the seasonby a score of 4-0, and evened the series at one game apiece.
“He was tremendous,” Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said of McKay. “There are days where the other pitcher is just so dominant, but we’ve gotta make him work harder. When they’re that dominant we’ve got to foul more balls off, do something to get him over 100 pitches and get him out of the game.”
McKay struck out eight and did not issue a walk in the win, and Ole Miss was not able toget a runner in scoring position for the entirety of the the game.
