Despite a national ranking in the top 15, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze has plenty of work to do in settling his linebacking corps.
Probably the biggest question mark surrounds junior linebacker DeMarquis Gates, who didn’t play against Memphis two weeks ago because of a suspension. It’s unclear exactly when Gates, the team’s top tackler despite starting only three games, will return.
“It’s totally up to him,” Freeze said during his weekly news conference Monday. “He knows exactly what he has to do to be ready to play.”
That has left the Rebels shuffling a half-dozen linebackers in and out of the lineup.
