HOOVER, Ala. – Last November, LSU seemed poised to make a move away from Les Miles as its head coach.
Heading into their regular-season finale against Texas A&M, the Tigers were on a three-game losing streak after falling to Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss in successive weeks and Miles was expected to be fired.
That’s when Hugh Freeze stepped in to offer his support.
“I reach out to him during that time to tell him, ‘Hang in there,’” the Ole Miss coach said this week at SEC Media Days.
Miles and LSU would go onto beat the Aggies, and athletic director Joe Alleva announced after the game that Miles would stay on as the Tigers coach.
