In one moment, it can all be over.
For Ole Miss football player Joey Embry, that was the case on May 20th, 1998. The promising offensive tackle drowned in a small pond that day. Embry was a diabetic and it has been theorized that the 6-foot-6, 300-pounder may have drowned during a diabetic seizure.
It shook the Ole Miss community and the small town of Bruce, located just 30-minutes south of the University of Mississippi.
It shook me as well. I was a friend of his.
Embry was a standout player for his high school team and excelled in academics.
