Hugh Freeze threatened to have Washington Post reporter arrested

Former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze, who resigned July 20 rather than be fired for what the school called “mural turpitude,” threatened a Washington Post reporter with arrest after he attempted to question Freeze at his house.

The Post wrote that reporter Will Hobson tried to question the coach about former staffer Barney Farrar; Freeze declined to answer and said he would call the police and have Hobson arrested.

Farrar is a former associate athletic director for junior college and high school relations at Ole Miss. The school dismissed him in December.

Farrar’s attorney, Bruse Loyd, said earlier this summer that the school was scapegoating Farrar, and he reiterated that to the Post.
