Hugh Freeze has resigned as Ole Miss’ coach effectively immediately, the school announced Thursday.
Co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Matt Luke will serve as interim head coach for the 2017 season.

Chancellor Jeffrey Vitter and athletic director Ross Bjork held a press conference at 7:30 p.m. CT, which was streamed on ESPN News.
According to multiple reports, Freeze’s resignation because a one-minute call made by Freeze on a university-issued phone to a female escort service raised an issue between Ole Miss’ legal counsel and former Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt’s lawyer.
