Hugh Freeze was standing at midfield of the Superdome hoisting the Sugar Bowl trophy over his head 19 months ago, coach of a top-10 team at Ole Miss. Now, he is unemployed amid a lingering NCAA probe and following allegations of what Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork called “personal misconduct.”
Thursday was a sad day for so many who followed Freeze and applauded his stance on faith. The reason for Freeze’s dismissal was difficult for me to handle as a person of faith.
Somehow, I felt I was sold a bill of goods.
For the better part of his tenure at Ole Miss, I fought for Freeze whenever he took a stand on his faith.
