The Ole Miss women’s basketball team opened their season with a 72-53 win over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday.
Taylor Smith led the team in scoring with 18 points with six rebounds and Deja Cage had 16 points. The Rebels shot 47.1% after a slow start to the game. Torri Lewis also made her return to the starting lineup after a year away with 11 points.
“Good to start the season off with a victory,” said Ole Miss head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin. “As you can see, we’re a young team, so the goal is to just continue to find things that we can get better at every game and focus on those things.
