Ole Miss’ women’s basketball coach was rewarded Wednesday for the turnaround he’s leading in Oxford.
Matt Insell has agreed in principle on a four-year contract extension, the school announced. The deal, which is the maximum length allowed by the state, will pay him a base salary of $475,000 annually and includes an incentive package for academic and on-court accomplishments. His assistants’ salary pool was also increased by 15 percent.
“Coach Insell and his staff have quickly established Ole Miss women’s basketball as a highly competitive program within the Southeastern Conference and have put Ole Miss on the map as a national program to be reckoned with for years to come,” Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork said in a statement.
