Bjork gets contract extension

Ole Miss has announced a contract extension for athletics director Ross Bjork.

The next deal puts Bjork under contract till 2019 at $650,000 a year. He has a $100,000 incentive package based on academics and wins and losses of Ole Miss teams.

Bjork was away from Western Kentucky in April of 2012.

He didn’t hire Hugh Freeze but immediately went into the mode of supporting the most visible athletics employee.

Together Freeze and Bjork have helped revive a program that was struggling mightily when Freeze was hired in December of 2011.

Freeze had led Ole Miss to 24 wins and three bowl games, one of them a New Year’s Six appearance this season, the first of the new format.
