McCarron, now with the Cincinnati Bengals, led Alabama to two national titles. But he told Yahoo Sports Radio that another SEC West school was close to getting his services.
“When I got there, I thought about transferring to Ole Miss … I think it was towards the end of my freshman year,” McCarron said. “I had to talk that over and everything. I ended up staying and everything worked out.”
McCarron, a native of Mobile, Ala., seriously considered Oklahoma before signing with the Tide out of high school. His patience paid off when he won the starting job as a sophomore.
