For an idea of how meaningful a preseason depth chart is, just turn the calendar back to last July, when the first official release of 2015 listed Chad Kelly in a three-way tie with Ryan Buchanan and DeVante Kincade. The word out of practice had long been that Swag was far and away the most talented arm on the roster, yet Hugh Freeze, likely in an effort to keep his star transfer humbled and motivated, propagated that depth chart charade until September.
Let's not, therefore, read too far into the first official depth chart of 2016, which was released last Friday afternoon.
