Eric Staal closing in on 1,000 career points

Eric Staal is about to embark on his 16th season in the National Hockey League and his fourth as a member of the Minnesota Wild. If he stays healthy (which history tells us he will, considering he’s only missed one game during his first three years as a member of the Wild) Staal will likely become the 89th player in NHL history to record 1,000 career points.

Staal will start the 2019-2020 season with 974 career points. For those that are mathematically challenged like yours truly, that means Staal needs 26 points to become the 89th player to reach the 1,000 point milestone.
