Weighing the options at backup quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings

Last year, the Minnesota Vikings got lucky. Their $84 million quarterback who they signed for three years was able to start all 16 games for the team despite taking 40 sacks from opposing defenses.

For the 2017 season, their backup was former Denver Broncos starter Trevor Siemian, who Minnesota gave up a fifth-round draft pick for and received a seventh rounder. However, his contract came to an end after the year and now he will hit free agency.

With Cousins cemented as the starter and Siemian likely moving on to a team who is willing to pay him more than Minnesota is, the team will be entering a situation where they will need to explore options at the position.
