Vikings Proposal for HQ Site Advances to Met Council

The Vikings request to have 194 acres in the southeast quadrant of the Highway 494 and Dodd Road interchange rezoned from major office to mixed use was advanced by the Eagan City Council to the Metropolitan Council on Tuesday.

Vikings officials, including Chief Operating Officer Kevin Warren and Chief Financial Officer Steve Poppen, informed the council of a proposal for a “Vikings destination” development that would become the new headquarters for the team that would be large enough for the entire organization to work under one roof. It also would provide state-of-the-art space with improved technology and potentially could host high school games of the week in a 7,000 to 10,000-seat stadium, as well as youth football clinics and other community events.
